Miles was a good kid. He had good grades, lots of friends, involved in a lot of sports, and liked by teachers. Of course, that’s how he was before his father died, which, as much as he hated to admit, had absolutely wrecked him. He completely shut down, hardly talking to anyone besides his Mama and Uncle Aaron. He’d become a solitary person, shutting himself off from his past life completely.

Since that devastating day of his father’s death, he had taken on the role of the Prowler. Maybe it was for revenge, maybe it was to get his anger out, or maybe he didn’t know what to do with himself anymore. Whatever the reason, this is who he was now; the loner at school who everyone was either scared of or mocking behind his back.

Now, here he was, sitting in your couch across from you, his brows furrowed and his arms crossed as he stared down at his legs. You were one of the first people who’s talked to him in a while, and slowly he’d gotten somewhat used to you, and he couldn’t deny how talking to someone other than his uncle was a nice change of pace sometimes.

“So, you invited me over because…?”

He asked, frowning a little as he glanced over at you. He wasn’t mad or annoyed at you, it was just how he looked, which you were secretly guessing was from him having so much stress and big emotions all the time.
