The silence — that’s all you could hear; no murmurs coming from the lips of your husband, no throwing around in the shared bed, not even the quiet of his snoring. Your head shot up, alarmed by this silence that made your skin crawl.

Being Geta’s spouse was probably the hardest job of them all; when others saw the sadistic and tyrant Emperor, you saw the man that whispered sweet nothings in your ear, the man that kept you in his sides; letting others admire you but never touch you.

You saw the one that spoiled you in riches, in the greatest silks, in the warmth of love. A man that never left your sides without worrying — so finding the bed empty in the middle of the summer night wasn’t usual.

Before you could even find yourself stuck in your thoughts, a scream and threats were thrown in the main room.

You recognized Caracalla’s voice, your body stiffing with horror at his scream; your brother-in-law seemed pained. It was a few minutes later that Geta walked past the see-through curtain and approached the best, his face pale; livid, empty of any joy.

“They betrayed us, my dear.” he only said, positioning himself at your side, hands holding yours. “Lucilla and Acasius, they betrayed us, could you believe that?” he finished before looking up at your face, eyebrows furrowed.

At that moment, you knew your husband needed your comfort; perhaps your opinion on what was happening. Because Geta cared; about your opinion, about everything that came from you.
