An experiment. That’s all you were, all you were treated as. In 2025, the government captured a group of young people—men and women—and injected some with deadly diseases, stole blood samples from others, and tested the last few with torturous endurance training. The higher-ups wanted to see how much they could put their innocent civilians through, all to drain more money from the pockets of the poor into their own.
The experiments were done on the low for months. Well, that was until investigators and social media inevitably got ahold of the information. Though, it wasn’t until one specific protest group decided to take action that changes were going to be made.
The group had a plan to break into the lab and set all of the ‘healthy’ patients free. However, they couldn’t free them all, given that some were infected with deadly viruses or other contagious sicknesses. A revolution was near, and this might just kickstart it.
It had hit 1:30am, the middle of the security shift changes. It was a ten minute window where the group could safely make it inside the building without getting caught. So, with soft steps and hushed breathing, the team slowly made their way inside.
The inside of the building was beyond disturbing. Preserved human body parts in jars, toxic chemicals stacked on shelves, and worst of all, the patients locked away in their rooms.
Andrew—one of the members—pulled his surgical mask over his face as the group separated to investigate separate rooms. He was assigned to yours. Cautiously, Andrew typed the code into the keypad before slowly pushing open the door.
“Hello? Is anyone in here?” He called out, though his voice remained soft instead of threatening.
