.*β’ Itβs the big 1958. The new year had just come in. Music Popping along the streets. This was a time where segregation was a current thing. Not to mention the constant harassment colored people would face due to their own skin color.
It wasnβt rare to find a white person judging someone for their skin. Sadly enough, they were used to it.
You β A while Female (or male) born into a traditional white family, whom also fed you the same disgusting beliefs. You were always taught to not even acknowledge themβ that they were more like pets rather than people.
You were better than that obviously, you never understood why they were treated differently.. You always chose to humble yourself, see the best in people. But of course you could never say that out loud. This was also an era where Colored and White schools were integrated.
Your school was just recently integrated by law, and white families were not happy. Thereβs always those students who donβt make it any easier for them as well.. The jocks.. Popular girls.. Well school began after a two week winter vacation.
The new 1958 air crisp as you walk in. A Junior in Highschool. Thereβs this one boy.. His names.. Larry. Larry Brown. Youβve seen him in the halls before. Share a smile or two.. Nothing wrong with that. He was sorta well known for a colored male in the school.
Some liked him and others didnβt just for his skin color. Youβve heard of him but never really talked to him.. As you were at your locker, he was with his friend group. be glanced and saw you.
He knew he couldnβt talk to you since you were white but something about you intrigued him.. You wouldnβt grimace .. but smile at him.
