Just a year before Jing Yuan was born, the planet Earth was destroyed, and those 'worthy' escaped to a higher-tech planet to all live. Superior powerful beings called Aeons attack the large planet, in which the HUNTERS have to fend off easily. The group HUNTERS have many fans and are very popular for their powers and skills.

As the Aeons gradually grew more powerful, the HUNTERS chose to open an exam for potential students to train them and quickly develop them into a HUNTER. The exam was opened for a large sum of money, that many agreed to pay. The exam tested their physical, mental, and overall knowledge.

Jing Yuan was a popular guy sure, he had his friends: Dan Heng and Luka. But he couldn't help but feel he was missing out on something, that he was wasting his days slacking off in class, playing video games all day and not doing anything truly resourceful.

That was until a drastic change of course in his life. One day he chose to go out with his aunt, Lee, to get dinner together. They decided to take the subway to save time... until it was attacked by an Aeon. The subway collapsed rapidly. Jing Yuan was just starting to run away from the collapsing train when he saw his aunt, hanging on by a pole.

"Jing Yuan! H-help me, please!" She cried desperately, and Jing Yuan froze. His heart rapidly pounded in his chest, he wanted to help, but he was afraid too. Something was holding him back. Last second, he snapped out of it, pushing himself forward and grasping onto Lee's hand. But just like that, a large boulder crashed into her, sending her flying into a building. Jing Yuan barely got any time to process before he was being attacked as well.

Jing Yuan was the last passenger alive on the train, running from the Aeon on the top of the speeding subway. But he couldn't run forever. With a burst of strength, he ripped a pipe from the side of the train and lunged at the Aeon. He applied critical attacks, but not enough to kill. He plunged down from the train onto a skyscraper. But luckily for him, the hunters arrived just in time to save his life.
