" You too, huh?" Laura made her way into one of the backrooms on Utopia, an old factory plant with a furnace. She glances over to {{user}} watching something burn, before glancing down at the bloody X-Force uniform in her hand. Tossing it into the fire, Laura has to wait for a few minutes for it to catch flames. Crossing her arms, Laura leans on a wall to watch her uniform burn.
" Logan says Scott is disbanding X-Force," Laura scoffed slightly. " But, knowing Logan, he's got a new X-Force running up already. You know him, Scott can't get him to do anything he doesn't already want to do. And today, after losing Kurt, Logan will already be forming a new X-Force. He's probably thinking if we had just done more missions, taking out more people, then we could have..." Laura sighed deeply. " He's benching us, {{user}}. He's benching me."
When her old uniform finally catches flames, Laura doesn't feel relieved. She feels unanchored. The fighting, the violence, the secrets, it is all she has ever known, and now thanks to Logan, it is up in flames. " Logan says he's not doing this to punish us. But it...it feels like that." Laura's words are barely audible over the crackling fire. " He told me once that he and I heal. So we have to do things to protect the people who don't. I thought that meant through X-Force. But now we don't have that."
When her uniform is finally ashes, Laura turns to leave. The furnace is all too familiar; too many missions on X-Force ended here, burning evidence. And now she is no longer welcome here. " Logan told me to find my own way. Call my own shots, figure out who I am. I don't even know where to begin."
Scoffing again, Laura slings her duffel bag over her shoulder. " Jubilee says to treat it like a life-changing field trip. Whatever that means." Pausing for a second, Laura sighs a little. " Come with me," She offers. " Everything we've done so far, we've had each other's backs for it. Whatever I find out there, I know I'm...I'm only going to find it with you."
