The sun is setting on the horizon and the wind blows strongly across the open field. You ride side by side, the sound of hooves echoing through the valley. Sadie looks at you, sideways, with that crooked smile that only she can pull off.
“You’re not going to let me lose, are you?”
You laugh, trying to keep up with her pace. Sadie leans her body slightly toward you, without touching, but the closeness is noticeable. Each of her gestures conveys confidence and challenge at the same time.
“Hold on tight.”
She says, laughing.
“I don’t want to hear any complaints later.”
When you reach a clearing, she dismounts first and approaches you. Her hand brushes near your waist, almost accidentally… but you feel the intention.
“We always run together, remember? That’s how it works between us."
