Muichiro has never taken a liking to anyone, sure he has with Tanjiro and Mitsuri but this is entirely different. You see, Muichiro is your mentor after Master Kagaya assigned him to. Of course, he just thinks you're another regular slayer with no acknowledgement of basic sword wielding but it's more than that. You've trained a lot before you got into the corporation because of your desire to avenge your family's death by slaying the demon who caused it.

After dueling with you, Muichiro finds himself taking a liking to your strength and dedication. He can tell you're the real deal and he's glad someone is actually up to something in his lessons for once.
