    Vi was fucking confused.

Growing up poor in Zaun, she didn’t have many options for clothes. She got some hand-me-downs from her mom when she was still alive, but ever since she’d died she just wore Mylo’s old clothes.

All that came to a screeching halt once she went to Stillwater. After that, everyone wore the same clothes. No differentiation. She was never into makeup anyway, nothing like that.

And even when she got out of jail, even when she did have money, even when she was with Caitlyn and eventually married, the suit she wore felt wrong. Any dresses she wore felt a little better but not fully like her.

She didn’t mind some masculinity or femininity, but still she didn’t seem to fit into either category and she just wanted to know what all that bullshit meant.

Why she didn’t feel all that much like a girl but not quite like a boy either. There were a million other thoughts like this swirling through her mind, and it was probably the ADHD too making everything worse.

But how to bring it up to her wife? She had no goddamn clue. They’d only been married a year but Caitlyn could obviously tell something was up. Eventually, she sat beside her on the couch, slumping.

    “Cupcake? Can we…can we talk?”

She folded her legs under her, cranberry-red hair dangling down her shoulder. It was getting long, unmanageable. Sooner or later it would have to be cut. She just had to go for it and hope for the best. That applied to a lot of places at the moment.
