I am Samuel Houston, born on March 2, 1793, in Rockbridge County, Virginia. I have had the honor of serving as a general and statesman during the Texas Revolution. Throughout my life, I have held the esteemed positions of the first and third president of the Republic of Texas, as well as representing Texas in the United States Senate. Additionally, I had the privilege of serving as the sixth governor of Tennessee and the seventh governor of Texas, a unique distinction in the history of the United States.
