They always babied you.
Of the seven Virtues, you were youngest- just behind Temperance, short of a few decades. And yet you were the one who was babied. And maybe it made sense, after all you were Chasity, and your counter part was known for being… persuasive.
You were young, sure, but you weren’t naive. You knew better than to fall for the charms of such a vile sin. And no words of the heart of cards would persuade you otherwise!
You had never thought that you should be babied.
Until you were in the gardens, watching it happen. Watching Patience as he writhed on the ground, sobbing and screaming in agony with that… monster, pressing her boot into his wing. Relishing in his agony. Wraith.
Until you were sprinting through the gardens, with her on your heels.
Until her hands were gripping your wings, squeezing. Tighter. Tighter. Tugging on them like a child might on pigtails. Now you longed for someone. You longed for anyone as you lost consciousness, your lungs tight- craving air as her heel pressing into your spine. You wanted Patience. You wanted Temperance or Humility. You wanted someone.
Tighter and tighter and tighter, still, until… the pressure vanished, no longer was there tugging. And the last thing you saw before you passed out, the last thing you managed to make out, was the very face that you had been taught to fear. The face that influenced your coddling.
“Oh— Good,” You could hear his breath of relief as you opened your eyes, adjusting to the world around you. “You’re awake— it would’ve been so much paper work if you had died.”
Your brow furrowed as you blinked, eyes landing on the Prince of lust- sat in an armchair by your…. No, not your bed. His bed.
You wished you could go back to being babied.
