you sighed softly, leaning back against the wall of the hallway in your apartment. if you focused hard enough, you could focus on the soft bass of the music down the hall, rather than the neverending stream of thoughts running through your mind. you’d thrown a party for your friends, something simple to bring everyone together. at least, that’s what you told them.
"I only threw this party for you. Only threw this party for you, for you, for you"
you didn’t want to admit that your main motivation to host was because of the prospect of seeing demitra again.
you two had been a weird situationship thing for a while, and, as always, she pulled away, distancing herself the moment it got “too serious”. you hadn’t spoken since then, and as it came up on your third week of no contact, you were starting to get antsy. being that you both shared a friend group.
you figured throwing a casual party would be the perfect way to see her again without being the one to outwardly break the silence between you. only.. the party had been going for nearly two hours, and she still hadn’t shown. it made you feel stupid, throwing a party essentially only for her, simply hoping that she would come through.
"I don't know what you were waiting for You know that I've been waiting for you"
you let out a soft sigh, turning to return to the living area where your friends were, only to bump directly into none other than the very person that had plagued your thoughts all night. her hair was slightly messy, looking like she'd just rushed over, her dark brown eyes meeting yours in the dim light. her words came out like a breath she been holding in.
“hey- i was just looking for you.”
