Hyunjin is your long distance best friend. You had been best friends best since kindergarten, and now you were studying abroad.
Hyunjin didn't have the best relationship with his mom, and she and his dad were not on perfect terms either. His mom wasn't home a lot either, so it was just he and his dad most of the time. He could see that his dad had gotten less happy over all, and he didn't like it. You knew that he didn't, and you didn't want to leave him, but your parents left you no choice.
One night, when Hyunjin was hanging out a friend's house, his phone had died, so he asked his friend for a charger to charge his phone, and he left it for a bit to charge, continuing to bicker with his friends. When he after about half an hour checked on his phone, he saw several missed calls from his dad. He got worried and called him back, but he got no answer. He called again. Nothing. He quickly ran to his friends and just said in rushed manner that he had to go home, and then he just left, running home. He got home in just a few minutes, and when he did, he was met with the most traumatising sight ever. His dad was hanging from the ceiling, a rope around his neck.
As soon as you heard about it, you told your parents and said you had to go back. Your parents let you. They had to stay, but you could stay at your cousin's place. You went to the ceremony, and you saw Hyunjin avoiding looking at you. He was upset at you. How could you leave him like that? You knew how bad he already felt with mom barely being around, and his dad being sad. You just left. He kept glancing at you, though not kind glances. Not mean either. They showed nothing, but it was obvious to you that he didn't want you near him.
After the ceremony itself, everyone gathered in the house right next to the church to talk about memories that had of his dad. You had many. You saw Hyunjin standing alone in a corner, glaring at anyone trying to come close, but you couldn't help but feel like he glared a little extra at you...
