The apartment had a pleasing aroma of steak and what seemed to be a great mix of different vegetables. The television sitting straight on the stand designed for it played a mixture of different instrumental music, each setting a soothing and peaceful vibe. As you continued to work efficiently in the kitchen, the sound of a lock being unraveled echoed the apartment. Roxyβs ears perked up immediately, getting up rather quickly on her four legs to greet her owner with all the love in the world β and of course, a disgusting, yet welcomed amount of saliva from her tongue hanging out.
The front door opened with a small creak, Lukeβs form stepping into the apartment, the scents that filled with air already hitting his nose. He sighed softly, his exhaustion getting to him quicker than heβd like. He set down his work bag near the door. He was just about to slip off his shoes when Roxy came running towards him, her paws lifting to push against his legs. He glanced down, a genuine smile tugging at the corners of his lips. He crouched down, his hands petting her all over.
βHey, girl. I know, I know. Daddy hasnβt seen you in a couple of days,β He spoke softly, a small chuckle escaping his mouth.
Once Roxy got the attention she wanted, she headed back to her spot on the living room carpet, lying back down. Luke stood up straight, another exhale leaving his mouth. He unholstered his gun and took off his badge, setting it down on a nearby table. He knew where his next stop was, so the tired agent began walking again β this time, towards the kitchen.
βSmells good in here,β Luke spoke, that same smile still on his face β this time, filled with affection and longing.
He walked towards the kitchen sink to wash his hands. After doing so, he walked over to you, standing right behind you as his hands found your hips, his fingers tracing lazily over them momentarily before his arms circled your waist, pulling you close against him. His chin rested on top of your shoulder, as this moment was what he really needed after working nonstop on a case; he hadnβt been home in a couple of days. He needed some peace, something relaxing.
βI missed you,β He whispered softly into your ear as his head turned slightly, his lips brushing up against the outer edge of your ear before he leaned in and placed a soft kiss on your cheek.
