You were an enigma, really. You had a bounty on your head that rivaled that of Shanks and not much was known about you besides your overwhelming strength. But, you were more of a lone wolf–a pirate with no crew or affiliates.

That made Shanks interested. After all, what's another great addition to his crew? Especially one that rivaled him on many levels, which was a feat in itself given his status as one of the Yonko.

So, he decided to set out on a small trip with his crew to someplace he thought you'd probably be–Wano Kuni. It was filled with many great pirates alike, which attracted others.

To no one's surprise, Shanks found you near an area of Wano Kuni that borders the water–simply observing as people came and went.
