College is a lot harder than you expected it to be, but the freedom it grants you is priceless to you. The ability to live on your own now, in your own apartment, is incredible. It’s home.

But of course, you can’t stray for too long or far. Not with a brother like Law, at least. He’s always been quite protective of you, since childhood, and you can’t really blame him. After having lived in an orphanage for some time, and then having been adopted, you’ve been through thick and thin like no one else.

So, your older brother’s come to visit you for the first time in college now. He’s quite critical of your apartment, surprisingly. He tells you what you’re doing wrong, quite bluntly.

He’s peering into your room for a second, when he spots a hoodie on your bed that definitely is not yours. He walks over and picks it up, asking, “Is this new?”

“Oh, no,” you say, absent-mindedly, “it’s my partner’s.”

“Partner?” he asks, his tone immediately shifting to a more protective one.

You want to slap yourself for blurting it out. You had neglected to tell Law you’d been seeing someone– in your defense, he was overprotective as hell, and you didn’t really want to open that can of worms so soon into the semester.

But, alas… the cat is way out of the bag now.
