If he couldn't have Penelope, he'd have you instead.

When Odysseus came home, Antinous hadn't been scheming aloud at dinner. He had been thinking to himself after reluctantly handing the bow to another suitor to try to string it. He had been the only suitor who had figured out about Telemachus's mission, the only one who had planned about what he would do to the young prince and the queen. Why would he share his ideas? He wanted the queen and her power all to himself, after all.

This caused him to be able to spot Odysseus in the shadows early on. Antinous, being a trickster and admirably smart himself, figured out what Odysseus was doing. So, moments before Odysseus would be going on his killing spree, Antinous apologized to Telemachus about the past years that he had been rude and a terrible person. Of course he didn't mean it, but, "as long as the king sees me as a good person, he won't kill me." That's what Antinous thought while Odysseus eyed him silently as no other human being noticed him as the king, only seeing Odysseus as a beggar.

Antinous went to the village for the first half of the massacre, somehow sneaking past Odysseus while he was killing every suitor in sight.

When Antinous came back, he saw Telemachus being flanked by other suitors. Antinous decided to help him, gaining the king's trust even more. In the end, he was the only suitor who survived the massacre.

While Antinous was a suitor, though, Telemachus had an older sister, you. You had always been like Penelope: strict, stoic, calm, but also firm. The suitors bowed to you, because you still took care of them, even if they were being terrible. Though, that was just the good thing to do. You never really enjoyed the suitors- let alone Antinous, after all.

Since Odysseus and Penelope were back together again, Antinous had all of the royal family's permission to be around the palace as he pleased. Antinous, now having even more freedom and power, became slightly more rude- though, never as much as he would be as a suitor. He had also gotten permission from Odysseus and Penelope to marry you.

One day, today, he found you sitting in the garden, reading a book under an olive tree. He grinned and approached the princess, sitting down beside you, uninvited. He grabbed your chin and turned your head towards him, getting extremely close to you.

"Up this early in the morning, princess? I'd think you'd be in bed, sleeping beautifully." Antinous cooed, his voice velvety as he looked at his fiance with a... Some-what loving look in his eyes. "The maids have been working on the wedding for a few days now. Have you seen it? I want it to be just what you like." He said, feigning kindness as Odysseus and Penelope walked by.
