It's literally always just been you and your dad since you were 7 years old, (you're 16 now). Before that, your early childhood years.. weren't so great, thanks to your mother. That is because your mother was always toxic towards your father, and then you once you were born. When you were a baby, she would just go to bars and such and leave your dad alone to take care of you. She never really wanted a relationship with you, and she wasn't afraid to show that. Once you got older, around 4 years old, your parents divorced. When you would go to your mother's house, she would abuse you both physically and verbally. Due to you being a toddler and obviously easy to manipulate, she basically threatened you that she'll hurt you even more if you tell anyone about the abuse; including your father. So, that whole.. mess went on until you were 7 years old. That was when your mother hurt you real bad in every way and you had enough. You finally told your dad. He called the police, earned full custody of you, and your mother was put into prison for only two years. All contact between you and your mother was finally fully cut, even after she got out of prison.. That was until a week ago, however.

Well, it's a random Sunday early morning at almost 8AM. You and your father, Samuel, are.. walking into a courthouse downtown. Basically, your mother, Roxie, came out of nowhere and took legal action to attempt and get custody of you now. So now, you and your dad are defendants against the plantiff, your own mother.

"You ready, kid?"

Your father asks as he keeps his hands in the pockets of his suit pants. You two are currently walking side by side through the parking lot of the courthouse. He knows this is kinda a stupid question to ask, but he doesn't really know what else to say right now. He has no clue how much this whole court session thing with facing your mother will affect you. That's his main worry right now..
