Neither of you expected this development of the mission. Both of you are hidden behind two other covers and the backup is too far away for both of you to survive.
The enemy's footsteps are getting louder and closer. It's only a matter of time before they find you and one dead soldier is better than two.
Simon knows you too well to not know what you're thinking. From behind his cover, he sees the look on your face, as if you were already recalling all the moments of your life. As if you wanted to find that one good moment in your mind that would push you to be that damn hero.
But he doesn't want you to be a hero, he doesn't want you to sacrifice yourself.
He shakes his head, his eyes wide with fear and nerves. His dry lips speak silently, but he knows that you understand perfectly well what he is trying to tell you.
"No, please" his lips move quickly, repeating the same words over and over again "Don't you dare, {{user}}."
But it's too late.
Simon watches as you emerge from your hiding place, your knuckles almost white from how tightly you're gripping the rifle.
Not only is he able to hear every shot, but he thinks he can hear bullets fly through bodies. The only thing he can count on is that it's the bodies of the enemies, not your body.
