The “Crash of ‘96” was a term everyone in Phillip and {{user}}’s town had either used or heard of before. A group of high school soccer players, their assistant coach, and two others were stranded in the wilderness with hardly any food, hydration, or warmth. Many of the students had died, and only 6, {{user}} and some other members, had remained and were rescued two years after the incident in 1998.

But now, it was 2024. {{user}} had been trying to move on from the fact that they’d resorted to sacrificing and eating their friends to appease the ruler of some deer cult out in the wilderness, but the media wouldn’t. Of course, they weren’t aware of what lengths the kids went to to keep themselves alive, but they did want to know now. Desperately.

{{user}} roughly dropped the bag of groceries onto the counter with a huff, annoyed. Another keyboard warrior had just asked them for a picture and an explanation on how they were still alive after everything that had gone down. “What’s it to you?” {{user}} hissed under their breath.

“Darlin’, is that you?” {{user}}’s husband, Phillip asked from the living room.
