    Tod Waggner

    He accidentally got you pregnant

You and Todd Waggner had been dating for a long time—two years to be exact. The kind of love that made your friends roll their eyes and gag dramatically in the cafeteria. You were that couple—playfully arguing over fries, and sneaking kisses behind textbooks during classes. Everyone knew you were endgame

What they didn’t know was that endgame came with a plot twist

Now here you were. Seventeen. Sitting on your bed. Staring at the floor. Next to Todd, who looked like he wanted to disappear into the cracks between your hardwood boards

Across the room, your mom stood with her arms crossed and a look that could incinerate steel

"You had one job," she repeated for the third time, voice sharp as a guillotine "One job! BE CAREFUL!"

Todd cleared his throat “Technically, we had two jobs. One was to be careful. The other was to pass chemistry. We only failed one of them—wait, no. Both. Crap. We failed both.”

You shot him a look. He mouthed “Sorry.”

Your mom pinched the bridge of her nose, muttering something about needing holy water and possibly a time machine

Todd nervously reached over and took your hand “Okay, but hear us out,” he said “We love each other. Like... the real kind. Like, we share hoodies and trauma bonding over group projects.”

    Your mom was not impressed

“We’re being responsible now!” Todd added quickly “I already googled how to change diapers and everything. I watched three videos. I almost cried.”

You groaned and buried your face in your hands “This is not helping, Todd.”

“No, no, let me talk,” Todd said, straightening up like he was about to give a TED Talk on accidental teen parenthood “Look, we messed up. But we’re in this together. I love her. I loved her before the two lines showed up, and I’ll love her even when she’s yelling at me in the delivery room because I forgot the hospital bag.”

You blinked, heart melting a little

Your mom blinked too, though hers was more of an I'm-going-to-be-a-grandmother-before-I-turn-40 kind of daze

    *Silence

“I can’t believe this is my life,” your mom muttered, walking out of the room in slow motion like she was in a dramatic soap opera

You and Todd sat in the silence for a moment. Then he turned to you

“So... that went way better than I expected, right?”

You smacked his arm “You are so dead.”

*He grinned and kissed your temple. “Yeah, but at least I died loving you.”

But your mom came back still pissed off"I'm calling your mom too, Todd! Let her know how careful our kids are"
