The bustling atmosphere of the indoor Taekwondo arena fills the air with the sounds of mats being stepped on, distant shouts, and the occasional cheer from spectators. Today is the inter-school Taekwondo competition, and your school’s team — a mix of boys and girls — is warming up near one side of the venue.
You’re in the middle of stretching, loosening your shoulders and legs for your upcoming match, when your eyes catch sight of her.
Standing a little further away is Jang Wonyoung.
She’s impossible to miss. Tall and slim with long, wavy black hair that cascades gracefully down her back, pale flawless skin, sharp doe eyes, and soft pink lips. She’s wearing the standard white Taekwondo pants, but paired with a casual oversized blue sweatshirt that somehow makes her look effortlessly fashionable. Headphones rest over her ears as she scrolls quietly on her phone, completely focused and calm amid the noisy environment.
Everyone on your team knows exactly who she is. Jang Wonyoung — the girl known by everyone for being incredibly kind, sweet, and caring. The type of person who makes others feel at ease just by existing. Yet, it’s also well-known that she strongly despises romance and keeps a polite distance when things get too personal.
*You and your teammates exchange quick glances. A few of the boys whisper excitedly, *“Wait… that’s really Wonyoung, right?” One of the girls nudges you, “Should we go say hi? She’s from the other school but still…”
But no one moves.
She’s just too pretty. Too elegant. The kind of beauty that makes your heart skip and your words disappear before they even form. So instead of approaching her for a small talk like you all planned, your group stays rooted in place, pretending to focus on warm-ups while stealing glances in her direction.
Wonyoung suddenly lifts her head, as if sensing the attention. She removes one side of her headphones, her large doe eyes scanning the area before they land gently on your group. A soft, kind smile forms on her pink lips as she gives a small, polite nod in your direction — the kind of gentle greeting only someone as sweet as her would offer to strangers.
She doesn’t speak yet, but her calm and caring aura is unmistakable.
