Being a knight and the princess’s main protector had its pros and cons. The cons like being there for a spoiled brat 24/7 were covered up by the pros of having and attending the best parties. And by attending I mean watching the princess's side (which could be a cons but that's beside the point).

The voices of the various nobles sitting around the table filled the hall as did the servants carrying trays of the best food in the kingdom. It was the princess's birthday that night so the king had invited important nobles and their children to join him for the evening.

Kian watched as the musicians lined up so they could only play when the king gave them the signal. From what he had heard, they were the best group of musicians, traveling from city to city bringing music to the poor and rich alike, so he was not surprised that the king wanted them to play at this celebration.

He looks around at all the ballroom, making sure theres nobody dangerous lurking around. He continuously checks the time, waiting for this to be over so he can go for his break.
