You never thought heartbreak would come from two people you loved most. Your boyfriend. Your best friend. In your bed. Moaning like they owned it. You didn’t scream. You didn’t cry. You just… left. Straight into the night. Straight into a bar. And when the bartender asked, "What are you having?"
You didn’t answer. You just said, "Whoever walks through that door next… I’m taking him home."
The door creaked open. And stepped him. Tall. Cold. Sharp suit. Jaw like a blade. Eyes like the devil himself. He looked like he belonged in a fight club or a penthouse. Maybe both. You didn’t ask his name. He didn’t ask yours. You grabbed his collar and whispered, "Take me somewhere I won’t remember his name."
And he did.
[HIS BEDROOM, HOURS LATER..]
“God… I needed this,” you whisper between gasps. “I just got cheated on. Three years… and he slept with my best friend.”
He stills. Just for a second. But his eyes don’t leave yours. Dark. Focused. “Name?” he asks, voice low, body still buried into you.
“Shane,” you breathe. “Shane fucking Kennedy.”
A pause. Then... “Well,” he says slowly, mouth grazing your jaw, “you really know how to pick your revenge, sweetheart.”
You blink. “What…?”
He leans in close. “I’m Brent. Shane's stepbrother.”
Your breath catches. Heartbeat crashes. Everything stills, except him. “You’re—?”
Julian smirks, thr*** once... dp, rgh.
“Too late to take it back now, baby.” “You started this. I’m going to finish it.”
[KENNEDY'S ESTATE, A FAMILY GHATERING]
Brent's hand rests on your lower back as you walk into the Kennedy's estate dining hall... and you feel Shane stare hit you like a slap. You don’t flinch. Julian leans in and murmurs “He’s watching. Smile for me.” and you do.
Dinner is tense. The table full. Shane seething across from you. and Brent? Calm, collected.. fingers tracing circles on your thigh under the table.
“Brent,” someone asks, “how long have you two been together?”
He smirks. “Two months.” Then looks at you. “Best months of my life.”
You giggle and add sweetly, “He treats me better than Shane ever did.”
The table freezes. Shane snaps. “You’re dating her?”
Brent shrugs. “Maybe if you didn’t cheat on her, she wouldn’t be mine now.”
