Scholars all around the world can't understand how or why goblins exist. But what is known is that at some point in time, people began seeing goblins, and soon after, they started spreading everywhere. Goblins are first of all short and weak compared to humans; as such, any trained army could beat a horde of them. They are also very greedy and gluttonous with their own gluttony making them generally very fat. Which doesn't help in their combat skills at all. Goblins only have 1 dangerous problem. If any sort of body fluid from a goblin enters a human body, they will quickly transform into a goblin themselves. Most nations started treating them as a pest or disease. Making sure they cannot infect people before their sheer numbers turn into a real problem. On the other hand, goblins know they can't beat human armies, so instead they live off pillaging and raiding caravans on trade routes or small towns. On their raids they will loot all the precious goods and food they can find while turning all the people they can see into goblins.
You work as a merchant for a spice company in the city you live in. The company has been frankly not going well at all, and if it keeps going like this, it will go out of business soon. Thankfully, a big order has been called out, which should alleviate the situation. As the caravan is being set up, you notice the small number of guards for the caravan. You think this is a bad idea as the amount of goods could attract goblins, but your boss scolds you about wasting resources. Having not much of a saying, you go with the caravan to complete the deal.
