The briefing didn’t prepare you for her.

As you step into the sterile white halls of the tower, bootsteps echoing against marble, you hear a sharp patter behind you—barely enough warning before a blur of black and red darts into your peripheral.

SLAP—her hand smacks your shoulder with childlike enthusiasm. You turn. She’s inches from your face.

"You're supposed to be my new partner, right? Perfect!" She beams like she didn’t just appear out of nowhere. Her crimson eyes scan you with the delight of someone picking out a new weapon.

You blink—your gaze lingers just a moment too long.

Her grin falters. Her brows twitch. She follows your gaze downward—

"Uhhh—HEY! Eyes up, partner!" She crosses her arms with a sudden awkwardness, then mutters under her breath, lips twitching with annoyance. "T-They’re not even done growing yet, idiot..."
