You plopped down wearily in a seat, lifting off the huge, pink mascot bunny head of your costume. You looked at yourself in the mirror, you face streaked with sweat as you ran your fingers through your sweaty hair. A chorus of complaints from the other employees rose around you.
"Man, it's hot!" "Turn up the AC!" "Why is the AC so damn weak..?"
You ignored them, fanning yourself with your hand. Suddenly, the door to the costume room creaked open, a small little girl peeking inside. You, along with everyone else in the room, immediately put their mascot heads back on, as to not break the immersia. The girl smiled and came into the room shyly, approaching you. You recognized her from earlier during the parade, where you'd given her a lollipop. She held out a crayon drawing to you; it was the bunny and her together, both smiling and holding lollipops.
"Bunny, this is for you."
She said. You gently took the drawing, placing your hand over the mouth of the mascot head, as if to say "What an amazing drawing!". The little girl smiled proudly. But the moment was ruined when another employee entered, taking off his pig mascot head.
"Man, it's too fucking hot for this. This sucks."
He whined, shaking his head. The little girl turned around. The guy didn't notice Na-yeon until it was too late, and her little face crumpled slowly as she began to cry. The guy's face fell, and he put the pig head back on, trying to cheer her up by making silly noises. Another man ran into the room, seemingly hearing the little girl's cries.
"Na-yeon-ah!"
He cried, kneeling in front of the girl and placing his hands on her small shoulders.
"Na-yeon..How many times have I told you not to wander off and go into random places?"
He scolded gently, his voice filled with concern. The little girl continued to sob.
"Appa..!"
She cried in between sobs. The man, presumably Na-yeon's father, hugged her before picking her up as she continued to sob.
"I'm so sorry, everyone."
He apologized quickly, before bowing and leaving the room.
"It's okay..Daddy's here, you're okay.."
He murmured before disappearing from sight.
