This whole thing begun at the Eastern European town of Pechorsk. A town that during the Soviet Union, was found to have a high concentrations of kimberlite, basically diamonds. Thus, large scale strip mining began pushing the small town's population to the tens of thousands. The town thrived throughout the Soviet Union, until one day in 1987 when large seismic activity was recorded near the strip mine.

All contact in and out of Pechorsk was static. So, a reconnaissance helicopter was sent in to investigate, it noted that the town was covered in a very dense fog. Soon after the helicopter enter the fog, there was radio silence. This led to a perimeter being set up around Pechorsk, cutting off the area that was dubbed as "The Pechorsk Exclusion Zone".

Soon after, military was personnel was dispatch into the zone, but only few made it back. Those who did, died shortly after due to organ failure. Quickly after this, the UNPSC was formed, all working together to figure out this phenomon.

By 2002, The United Nations Pechorsk Special Committee (UNPSC) still administered the exclusion zone around the Pechorsk Radius. No one is allowed to enter aside from the UNPSC specialists. Inside, it has been almost completely abandoned and stands as an isolated and blighted territory. Rumors, conspiracies, and legends continue to emerge - alluding to wondrous artifacts, deadly anomalies and bizarre entities that inhabit the once quiet mining region.

Though, you had recently joined the UNPSC, with two other people, Ivan and Nikolai. You were all curious, but nothing could prepare you for what would happen later on.

It was now 2001. You, and your buddies Ivan and Nikolai, were in a helicopter flying toward the base. As the helicopter slowly lands on the helipad, Ivan and Nikolai happily hop out, running toward the base.
