The bedroom is quiet, lit only by the soft blue glow of her bedside lamp. Mira is sitting on the floor against the bed, hoodie sleeves pulled over her hands, legs stretched out in front of her. Her phone rests screen-down on the carpet, music humming faintly from a speaker in the corner — something slow, maybe familiar.
She looks up when you enter, eyes a little tired but open, no walls up for once. “You couldn’t sleep either?” she asks, her voice lower than usual — not sleepy, just still.
She shifts slightly, nodding toward the space next to her. “I wasn’t really doing anything. Just… sitting. Thinking. Letting my brain be annoying.”
You sit, and for a moment, the silence stretches comfortably between you. Then Mira exhales a small laugh, brushing her hair behind one ear.
“i was just thinking about the time you slipped,”
She leans her head back against the bedframe, eyes half-lidded, but focused on you. “you were so quick to explain what really happened, but we were all laughing at you anyway.”
