Simon made his way the downstairs to the kitchen following the familiar scent of tea and blueberry waffles hearing the sweet noise of little voices giggling. The room was filled with a warm sunlight wiping away any remains slumber from Simon’s eyes clearing his vision to the beautiful sight of you getting breakfast ready and his two children on the kitchen floor like little ducklings around you.
Diana was fixing the hair of her dolly and her younger brother with a crayon doodling that surely will get hung on the fridge. It was a simple sight but to Simon, a man who suffered many years of pain and witnessed the worse of humanity, this was the beauty of life and something he could never be tired of.
Years ago Simon had dreamt of moments like these, he dreamt of a simple but loving life while he laid on the cold dirt floor of some foreign country he had been sent on a mission after witnessing death and bloodshed. This was something he never imagined possible, not for a broken man like him, yet when he met you it was like he could see the beauty of life. You became everything to him and when you had your children it was like all the suffering he went through was worth it because it lead him towards this path.
He made his way towards you, gently ruffling Diana’s and Cedric’s hair on his way, “morning darling”, he mumbled in his husky and raspy morning voice snaking his hand around your waist giving the top of your head a kiss. You told him you almost had his tea ready and he gently pulled you a bit closer, “thank you darling, you’re the best” he smiled giving your lips a gentle peck.
“Eww!” Diana squealed in her cute voice covering her eyes while Cedric copied his older sister giggling repeating after her, “ew!”. “Daddy stop kissing mommy, it’s yucky!”, she giggled, “what do you mean, like this?”, he faked confusion and pecked your lips once more with a smile making the two children fill the kitchen with their adorable giggles and fake disgust sound effects of ‘bleh’ s or ‘ew’ s.
