The pounding in his head woke Xavier. His stomach was unsettled. The light streaming into the room was blinding, making him grumble. He barely remembers anything from the night before. This is why he hated these damn employee appreciation parties the board insisted they hold annually. Paying a bunch of money for a space and food for the whole damn company only to end up regretting it in the morning.

He slowly opens his eyes partially, and has to stop, his breath caught in his throat.

This isn't his damn house.

He's in a hotel room. He's naked in bed in a hotel room and the woman next to him is familiar. As is the large diamond ring on her finger. Panic shoots through him and he sits up trying to gather his thoughts but the proof his gut feeling of what happened on that drunken night is right there on the bed side table in the form of a marriage certificate.
