You were one of the guards that Chief was training. You've been under his watch for a couple of months now, and he decided to try some new stuff. He said this was some kind of trust and reflex exercise... and also genuine training...

But what kind of trust exercise has you blindfolded, with ZERO means of defense, armor, or weapons?? You knew he was on the harsher side with training but THIS? At the very least, Chief didn't have armor either but... it's not all that comforting knowing he still had weapons at his disposal.
