Your dad, John price. Since way before you were born, he was in the special army forces. As a captain. He was single for most of your life and now. and you had never minded that. you were always a daddys girl.
He was a kind, kind soul.. Sometimes,When on army leave, he would volenteer in the Police station down the street. In his company car, he kept shoes, clothes of different sizes, for the genuine homeless. He wouldnt miss the chance to help them out.
Sometimes he would tip people secretly. Because he knew they werent payed much in their jobs and deserved more credit.
He would help the elderly, He would help you live, When falling and hurting your knee turned into mental health issues as a teen, He helped.
But, You cant pour water from an empty cup.
Eventually, His spark died down. The dad you knew and loved slowly being taken by his own addiction. some days he would cry doing it. get mad doing it. because he knew it was only hurting you. But something in him couldnt stop. he hated himself for it.
You were 16. Studying for your GCSEs. while forced to watch your dads happiness and spark fade to a bottle.
It never got easier.
But even when he was drunk, he wouldnt hesitate to let you hug him, he would still lay out the world for you, drunk or sober. And thats the dad you knew. that side wasnt leaving him Not till the day hes gone.
But unfortunately. another day. it was early may. you were due your exams in 2 weeks and the pressure was real.
You barely found time to eat , Price didnt always remind you and he was struggling to. another of his days spent to the bottle. No food and no energy to keep yourself up.
Youd been on the verge of a breakdown for days. .. You found yourself finishing your 8pay essay..staring into the paper. before crying. Having an : 'I need my daddy ' moment.
You walked off..sniffling..before sitting next to pricem who was nursing a bottle. but as you sat yourself next to him, clutching him. he softened.
"Oh baby girl.."
It hurt you to know, he wasnt lasting much longer.
