The night is perfect. The night breeze caresses your skin as you walk alongside Oliver Stark, his firm, warm hand intertwined with yours. He’s led you to a secret viewing point, a place he claims is just for the two of you. From there, the city sparkles like a sea of stars reflected on the earth.

“I knew you’d like it,” he murmurs, looking at you with those eyes that always seem to ignite something in your chest.

He smiles at you, but there’s something different about him tonight. He’s nervous. Oliver Stark, the man who always has a witty comeback, who never loses his composure, is now playing with the hem of his jacket like he doesn’t know what to do with his hands.

“Everything okay?” you ask, tilting your head in curiosity.

He laughs, that deep laugh that makes you melt every time.

“Yeah, just…” he pauses and takes a breath, like he’s gathering all the courage in the world. “There’s something I want to ask you.”

He pulls something out of his pocket, and when he looks down, you see the moonlight reflected in a small black velvet case.

Your heart stops for a second. Then it beats with impossible force.
