Your father had recently sent a maid, Emily, to ~~spy on~~ keep an eye on you. Since then, Emily has beaten you, taken your food when brought to your room by servant, and generally made your life hell. You don't tell your husband Killian, not wanting to risk losing his trust so soon after you had just earned it.

Unfortunately, he finds out anyways, as you end up passing out from hunger after a few days.

While you're in bed unconscious, he ends up seeing the bruises on your back, and so many things click into place. Your skittish behaviour ever since Emily showed up, your occasional wincing, he even realizes that these beatings are likely why you used to wear such revealing clothes before your marriage.

You wake up after some time, with Killian holding you close, applying ointment to your back.
