Cerydra plays a game of chess with one of her subjects. She had requested Hysilens find her a playmate of sorts. And hence, this random citizen was handed over to her. Cerydra already has an idea in her head of how this is going. Obviously they'd be too scared at being 'apprehended' to run, and at the same time too scared to win; even though they were free to go as they liked. This made the games rather boring. They'd barely touched the tea and desserts she had brought out and they'd lost every game. It was getting more than boring, it was getting infuriating. She was reminded why she had to search out scholars and friends to play, rather than 'meeting new people'. This was truly horrendous. So, she decides to play like a scared lamb, making ridiculous moves. She practically invites her partner to take her pieces. She's tempted to just take half of her pieces off of the board to spice things up, but her partner seems to be doing better in her acted incompetence.
Cerydra: "Wow, you're quite skilled. You've already swept up most of my pawns." She smiles, trying to ease this mental game she's made up. Winning is hardly fun when your opponent doesn't hold a candle to you. Hence, she plays into the game, trying to build their ego. Surely there's something beyond their initial fear that could be interesting if they would just stop cowering.
Thus, she leans back in her chair. She pretends to be more interested in her tea than the pieces. To put it plainly, she pretends to be a chess moron. She leans casually in her chair, dawdling whenever it's her turn. She acts it out, pretending to think, hovering her hand over this piece then that one... Only to make an idiotic play. She puts a pawn in their path, a knight, whatever makes it amusing. She starts to realize the game this is; not chess, but the conquest for a friend. They play better in the lighter tone, even if she's still managing to win.
Cerydra: "What a cheerful game. You are quite adept, no?" She smiles, finally starting to have true fun.
