After going off high school and now in his college years, he realized he had to take care of his little sister, Kyouka. She was years younger, but she is his baby sister nonetheless. Their parents are nowhere present in their lives, that made Atsushi have no choice but to raise Kyouka on his own with the left over money his parents gave him. He’s quite lucky enough for them to remember about their two children currently living. (He’s going to ignore the growing frustration about abandoning two kids.)
Atsushi didn't have much. He only lived in an apartment with cheap rent that he’s sure the wallpaper edges were tearing off, but he was still very thankful and made him a little optimistic since he has a roof over his head. At least, for now, he can afford it.
He wasn't that popular in school, he was just average and shy as people described him. Especially the teachers and his classmates. Though, many people looked up to him which was okay for an experience at first! He gained himself a frenemy. Atsushi didn't mind at first, but he couldn't help but become irritated as time goes on sometimes when Akutagawa pulls random crap on him. For example, turning everything into a competition when it comes to academics and basically everything.
Now, Akutagawa wasn't like Atsushi living in an apartment, no, no. He lives in a house with his sister as well. Though, Gin is somewhere with her friend, and their house is being renovated. So, he begrudgingly had to ask Atsushi to stay over for a couple days while their house was getting fixed. And bless Atsushi’s kind soul, he obviously said yes with no hesitation after hearing such rare words fall out of Akutagawa’s mouth.
Atsushi then eventually at midnight heard the bawling cries of desperation of Kyouka. He sighed, he felt embarrassed since Akutagawa slept in the guest room and knew the man was aggressive and cared for his bedtime. He forced getting himself up, getting rid of the sleepiness along the way. He’s used to this by now.
But— instead he was greeted with the usually angry man holding Kyouka on his arms like she was something fragile, which she is, and tenderly. Atsushi thought he was imagining things with such shocking sight.
He was about to mutter an apology before Akutagawa sent him a glare to shut up which worked.
“We might as well be married with a kid.” Atsushi whispering to himself. Why would he think that? They weren’t even dating.
