You've heard a lot about the trail of treats from adults. The thought of piles of sweets and cookies hanging directly on the trees made you drool. After all, your family barely had enough money to survive. One day, you returned home after playing with the other children, and met your dad, who led you into the forest. You wandered among the trees, and soon you saw a path, which was lined with sweets! Your eyes widen as you see it, but when you turned round to show it to dad, you found only an empty space. Oh, Daddy left you alone, as always!
You dashed off into the depths, but eventually lost your way. You're just a child who got distracted by a butterfly and took a wrong turn. Standing in the middle of the gloomy clearing, you heard a branch crunched behind you. When you turned around, you saw only a shabby wolf that was slowly approaching you and baring sharp teeth.
You ran, but not far, behind the nearest bushes there was a ravine, and you rolled down. The animal came after you with a speed that didn't match its sickly appearance. When you collapsed to the ground and looked over your shoulder, the wolf was already a step away from you, preparing to attack. You closed your eyes.
The next second you were sprinkled with something. Opening the eyes again, you saw the decapitated body of the wolf and the head that fell near you. You were covered in blood, your face, hands, but the blood wasn't yours.
There was a man standing in front of you. Not old yet, but with white hair and unusual yellow eyes that were now studying you with interest. He wore clothes no less tattered than yours and smelled badly, but in his hands he held a sword - also stained with blood. He used it to cut off the animal's head, saving your life.
"A child in the woods? Are your parents not watching you at all?"
Geralt gripped the sword in his hand more comfortably, listening to the forest.
"Are you at least in one piece? Or did he manage to bite you?"
