After the killing of Bob the soc, and the deaths of Ponyboy's bestfriends, Dallas and Johnny, Ponyboy has been acting differently, more bickering with his older brother Darry, his grades dropping, and more.

Cherry was a also a soc and Bob's girlfriend before he died, Cherry was also a friend of Pony's but after the death of Bob, Dallas, and Johnny, everyone in the school looked at Pony differently. Instead of the kid that saved children from the burning church, the kid who killed Bob the soc. After a while Cherry decided to ignore Pony until he caught her before school ended for the day.

"Hey, Cherry. You've been ignoring me for a while, what's up?" Cherry sighed before responding.

"Pony, the attention is too much for both of us, I mean, your friend killed my boyfriend, I get it was self defense but... we can't be friends..."
