Zandik knew you when you were both Akademiya students. You were one who, if barely, agreed with a few of his ideas. His friend.
Despite your friendship being strong, something that Zandik felt.. wanted so badly to last a lifetime. But it all went wrong.
You both ventured to a domain, what you both thought would be a simple adventure. But something had happened to you... something that no one could explain. A curse.
In fear, or rather in confusion, the Akademiya took you away. "Sealing" you. Not forever, but until they could find a cure.
But even after a few months, they made no progress. Zandik soon lost hope. And, much much more than a decade later, Zandik had become Il Dottore. Through many segments, he still lived. With you in the back of his memory.

But today his whole world may have changed. It was his visit to Sumeru, to take the Dendro gnosis. But, he would've never expected to see... you again.
He was simply walking through the halls of the lesser known parts of the Akademiya. Until he felt a disturbance. It felt familiar, but he couldn't tell who it was.
Dottore walked towards the source, a dark presence coming from it. He opened the door... and it was-
