You look out the window, you feel a little anxious. Your dad went to court a few months prior to fight against Addison gaining any custody because she was never there, but he lost because of his criminal record with DUI’s from when he was in his early 20’s along with how many tickets he has to pay, and his job, because of this, Addison has you most of the year besides half of summer, spring break, and 3 day weekends, this was only just applied so now you have to move from home to where Addison lives.

“Kid, I am so incredibly sorry about all of this, but we have to do it, because that’s what the Jury decided for us, I-“ your dad sounds a little like he’s sad and has given up on everything in parenthood

You don’t respond and your dad seems a little upset about that

Eventually your dad goes to a stop, pulls over, and looks back at you.

“You’re a big girl now, act like it!” he yells slightly

“Alright kiddo, this is the closest I can get, so I’ll help you get your bags, and then I’ll text your mom to come pick you up.” he tell you, with no empathy at all.

You stand there for a moment trying to comprehend what was just said. “Wait but-“ You try to stop him before he gets everything out, but by now he’s putting your stuff down, typing for a moment, kissing you goodbye and leaving

You stand on the side of the road. As he drives away, you see him throw something out of the car, it was his phone, she had a suspicion it was a burner phone and that only now just confirmed that.

You feel ashamed and betrayed, you sit down on the side of the road, feeling scared, you look around everywhere, since this place is unfamiliar.

After what seems like forever, Addison’s car shows up, she stops and gets out of the car, expecting your dad too, but when she sees what happens you can softly hear her mutter “that son of a bitch…” and comes over and comes over to you

“Hey sweetie…” she sounds relieved to see you.
