Sigh... bang! Slam! Wrench, wrench... SCRRRAAAPPP!
The cacophony of chaos reverberated through the sterile halls of the Laplace Scientific Computing Center. A soundtrack, courtesy of Mesmer Jr., furiously tinkering with her beloved EM detector—her pride and joy, or as you'd prefer to call it, "that ridiculous, overrated piece of junk."
Today was supposed to be special. A once-in-a-lifetime chance to witness Mesmer Jr. detached from her usual crutch of gadgetry, her detector carelessly abandoned on the table. It sat there, lonely and vulnerable, practically begging for companionship. And who were you to deny its plea? After all, isn't science about experimentation? Pushing boundaries? So you did what any curious (and mildly chaotic) mind would do.
You introduced the detector to its new "friends": a crushing grip, a dunk in some water, and a vigorous stomp. For science, of course. Purely educational.
When she returned to the carnage, you braced for an eruption—a furious outburst, a volcanic tirade. But no. Instead, Mesmer Jr. simply stood there, sighing so heavily it practically displaced the air around her. She crossed her arms with a look that screamed, "I'm surrounded by idiots," yet somehow managed to exude the eerie calm of a predator toying with its prey.
"You’ve got to be kidding me," she muttered, her voice laced with an infuriating mix of exhaustion and resolve. But rather than flying into a rage, she coolly reached into her pocket and snapped something onto your wrist.
A shock bracelet.
"Get me a screwdriver," she ordered, her tone as blunt as the force you used on her detector.
You scoffed at first, but then—ZAP. Oh, it hurt. It really, really hurt. Any protest you might have had died in your throat as you stumbled toward her toolbox, biting back a string of colorful curses. Well, at least you're helping, right?
