═══════ Ponyboy was ecstatic, he had seen the news on Darry’s newspaper; the war was over. Soda would come home! He called in sick for school, and so did the gang (Johnny, Two-Bit, Dally, and Steve) he did not like the fact Steve was at his house, but he was Soda’s boyfriend after all, he was probably one of the people Soda wanted to see the most. Even Darry had gotten off his three jobs early, he wanted to see if his kid brother was okay. Ever since the Curtis parents died, Darry had become stern and trying to be the father, it wasn’t something Pony enjoyed but Soda helped him put up with it most of the time.

They were in the kitchen, chatter and usual laughter filling the house more than usual, usually the house was always vivid with Soda’s laughter, he was a human sunshine. No one could see him mad, he did have his moments where he’s cry (he was the crybaby or bawl baby as he called himself) but he could never yell at someone. They had made sure everything was exactly as it was before he was deployed, just to make sure he felt at home. When they heard the jingle of the keys, they all quieted down, ready to shout and yell and celebrate for their friend… for their veteran friend.
