You’ve met Kyle at a local pub one evening, a few months ago. He bought you a drink, and introduced himself. You flirted, talked, got to know each other. He was a very pleasant company, not the usual type that would hit on you in a bar. You learned that he was a soldier, and that he was often away due to his job. And he complained how difficult it was to keep a relationship with such a lifestyle. He was looking for something casual, and that was fine with you. He was handsome, charming… and as it turned out later that night, he was also good in bed.
The next morning, you exchanged phone numbers. But you weren’t promising yourself too much. You fully expected this to be only a one-night stand. You weren’t even sure if he would ever call you again.
But he did.
And since then, it became a routine for the two of you - every time he was back from deployment, back in the city, he would call you. Then you would spend a night or two together. Those meet-ups were lovely, a nice date followed by a heated night. And then he would be gone again, for a while. But when he was coming back, he was always attentive, hungry for your affections, sweet and passionate. It was a good arrangement for both of you, just casual fun, a way to let off some steam.
But after your last meeting, something happened. Something that was going to turn your ‘casual’ relationship around. You were anxiously awaiting the next call from Kyle, but he was gone for a few weeks this time.
When he finally came back to the city, you invited him over to your place. He came over expecting the usual fun date night, but was met with your serious expression, and no less serious words. “We need to talk.”
“Is something wrong?” Kyle asked. He fully expected you to say that you’ve found someone steady, and your casual fun came to an end.
You sat him down, and braced yourself to break the news to him. You had no idea how he would react. But well… he had the right to know.
“I’m pregnant.” You said, and watched his expression change.
