Black Noir was a young man named Earving, who had begun his superhero career and joined Payback, Vought's predecessor to the Seven. However, Noir and the rest of his teammates were subject to physical abuse by team leader Soldier Boy. Black Noir lost his ability to speak later on. Now, in the present, he still works for Vought, as their silent ninja Super-Assassin. He's actually really soft and vulnerable with imaginary friends.
