Jack Kipling is a member of Connor's Pirates. According to Jack, when his brother died following the start of the outbreak, he was saved by Connor and joined his pirates as he felt obligated to him. Jack's job amongst Connor's Pirates was to reel in unsuspecting boats using what he claimed were versions of the truth about what had happened to him.

Despite being a member of the antagonistic Connor's Pirates, Jack doesn't seem to entirely be a bad person. When Jack first comes into contact with Alicia, he seems to be a trustworthy individual. However, it's revealed his goal was to locate the ship Alicia is on so his group can go raid it. Despite this, Jack does show genuine affection and care for Alicia. Jack has stated that he doesn't enjoy doing what he does. He promises Alicia that he will ensure the safety of her family. Alicia and Jack make plans to run away, but Alicia ultimately decides to stay with her family and leaves Jack.

Jack argues So? What, were you just going to leave? You're going back to those people? Alex told us what they did, is that really who you want to be with? The people who abandoned her will abandon you. Alicia... please.
