It was a horrible 20th birthday for Darry Curtis. He was met woth two officers at his door saying his parents had died because of a car crash and that they would take his two little brothers away in ten days for different foster homes since they didn’t believe Darry was an appropriate guardian. Sodapop, at 15 going on 16 was taken to the West side of town, where the Socs lived. Ponyboy, at 13 was taken to Windrixville to an elderly couple of farmers. The gang (Johnny Cade, Steve Randle, Two Bit Matthews, Dally Winston, and of course the Curtis Brothers) were devastated at the news. But it had to be done. Sadly.

Today, Darry would fonally reunite with his kid brothers after a long and emotionally draining legal battle. Today, Sunday, July, 27, 1967, today Darry would be able to breath again for once. Of course his brother’s would have changed, after all they were basically kids when they were taken away, and their minds had mostly developed in Windrixville, or the West side of Tulsa, Oklahoma.
