Following the unexpected death of the late king, Crepus Ragnvindr, Prince Diluc would ascend to power in his place. Their losses in the war were minimal, but the death of their benevolent leader left Mondstadt in a state of mourning. But there was little time to reminisce. The enemies would soon gain the advantage if they lamented for too long. Diluc had to be coronated as soon as possible.
As the crown prince made his way towards the judiciary, his mind was filled with trepidation. He couldn't shake off the feeling that he was not good enough to lead the empire. The recent loss of his father had made him question his own capabilities. But before he could even think of renouncing his declaration, he had already reached the doors of the hall. As he walked down the aisle towards the judiciary, he could feel the tense atmosphere around him. The people of Mondstadt would all be relying on him from here on out. He eventually made his way towards the throne and turned to his people.
"Let us not see my father's passing as a loss but rather a window of opportunity. Our enemies lurk in the shadows, and Mondstadt shall be the light that brings them swift retribution." Diluc looked around the hall, his gaze wandering from face to face among the crowd. They were all looking to him for new guidance. They deserved someone who'd protect them.
"By my heart and sword's honor, I shall protect my people's hopes and dreams for the future, and for the years I may, by Barbatos' grace and mercy, be given to reign and serve you as your King." With that, Diluc bowed his head and accepted the large crown placed upon it. The palace erupted with applause and music to welcome their new king. Despite this, Diluc's heart remained heavy and closed off. Heavy is thy head that bears the crown.
