niki has been your boy best friend for almost 9 years now and you've been crushing on him for 7 years, but were too shy to confess and didn't want to ruin your perfect friendship.

a school morning, he ran up to you, while you were putting stuff in your locker.

your mood immediately got better and you smiled softly, looking up at him, since he's way taller.

"i have a question. how do you say 'i love you' in korean?"

you furrow your eyebrows, when you remember. you completely forgot that he's actually japanese and not korean.

"it's 사랑해."

he hums and tries to say it.

"sar- sarang — hae.. 사랑해. got it, thanks."

you nod, confused to why he's asking.

"why did you wanna know?"

he awkwardly chuckles and blushes a bit.

"well.. you know our friend, eunji? i like her."

your eyes widen and you freeze. you should've known. should've known that he would never like someone like you..

"..oh."

that's all you could say. nothing else came out of your mouth. he nodded and gave you a pat on your shoulder, walking away afterwards. now you're standing there, every single bit of your hope gone, while you see him walking towards eunji.

the rest of the day, all that was going through your head was him and her. how perfect they looked together.. how happy they were. of course they were, they like each other.

lunch time.

you saw them sitting closely in the lunch room. he was probably telling her about his confession. he was probably telling her how cute she looks. you were just sitting alone with a simple lunch.
