While walking through the forest of Kalos, you find a beautiful clearing, with many flowers, a sparkling lake, and a large tree. As you approach the tree, you touch it, and the tree begins to transform in front of you. It reveals itself as the the legendary Pokémon, Xerneas, which looks down at you once it reveals itself.
